CAPIO Unveils Two New Programs for Early and Seasoned Professionals
CAPIO Elevate and CAPIO Fellows
During CAPIO’s 2026 CAPIO Annual Conference, President Sonja Dosti, APR unveiled two new programs kicking off this year. As CAPIO continues to grow in membership and size, our focus is to remain a top-tier, first-class resource for growth, learning, teaching, and honing skills for communications professionals. These two new programs will help both younger professionals and seasoned professionals in our field.
The first program for those just starting in the field is our new CAPIO Elevate program. This started out as an idea and a proposal by a young leader amongst us – Cristina Macz. The group is designed for members 35 and younger who are within the first 5 years of their career. So whether you are under 35 or if you’re within the first 5 years of your career – this is your group. If you are older than 35, but still newer to the PIO / government communications field, you are welcome too.
Our second new program recognizes members with 20 years or more of experience who will be giving back to CAPIO, but also have a dedicated space to recognize, engage, and connect with peers with advanced experience in the field. This program, CAPIO Fellows, honors their expertise while inviting them to contribute meaningfully to CAPIO’s professional development network. This will complement the Past Presidents Circle by being open to all seasoned practitioners, not only former board leaders. Similar to our CAPIO Elevate, if you have “nearly” 20 years experience but not all your experience is directly in communications, you can still join this group if you feel it is a fit. Sign up below for the latest updates as we roll out the program.
