Are you ready to elevate your potential and advance in your profession in 2020? CAPIO’s mentoring program can help you gain advanced knowledge and expand your network by pairing you with an experienced professional from within the state. Mentors are experts who are willing to offer their feedback and professional perspective to help guide you in accomplishing your goals.

“We’re heading into our third year of this popular program and have received great feedback from mentees and mentors who have participated,” said CAPIO’s Education and Development Chair Rachel McGuire, APR. “Studies have shown that mentoring is one of the most valuable and effective professional development opportunities. Having the guidance and encouragement of a mentor can shape your career for years to come.”

Applications will be accepted from now through March 13. Participants will be notified of their pairings by March 31. The official program will run from April 1 to March 31, 2021. In addition, CAPIO will offer a free webinar, The Benefit of a Mentor for Your Career in Communications, on Jan. 9, which will cover the ins and outs of mentoring and how the CAPIO mentoring program works.

“It doesn’t take much time to make a difference in someone’s career,” said McGuire. “I always enjoy hearing stories from those who participated in the first and second year of the program and still keep in contact.”

Mentors and mentees will have an opportunity to meet at CAPIO’s 2020 Annual conference in Santa Barbara, April 19-23, and will have 4 additional opportunities to meet over the course of the next year, in person, or by phone or video chat.
