Join National Weather Service’s Warning Coordination Meteorologist, Todd Hall, for an insider look at the Central Coast weather outlook, past El Niño impacts, and what today’s watches and warnings really mean. Then take part in an interactive workshop where PIOs turn technical forecasts into clear public messaging and leave with ready‑to‑use messages and practical takeaways to boost community preparedness. The event will be held October 21 from 9 a.m. – noon at the Santa Barbara County Emergency Operations Center, 4408 Cathedral Oaks Road, Santa Barbara, CA 93110.

BIO
Todd Hall is the Warning Coordination Meteorologist with the National Weather Service’s Los Angeles office in Oxnard, California. Over his 25+ year career, he has served in four different National Weather Service Forecast Offices, serving the last 12 years in his current position. He is a two-time recipient of the NWS Regional Isaac Cline Award for Diversity and Leadership, received the National Weather Service’s Diversity Excellence Award, and selected three times for the Department of Commerce’s prestigious Bronze Medal for his actions during the October 2007 and January 2025 California Wildfires and for developing the National Weather Service’s Diversity Training Curriculum in 2012. He is the co-developer of the “Weather Calculator,” one of Google’s most highly searched resources for computing weather parameters and computations. Locally, he has spearheaded efforts to reach out to southern California colleges and universities in helping found the California Consortium of Colleges for Weather and Climate. He also serves as a mentor to students in NOAA’s Hollings Scholarship Program and UCLA’s Alumni Mentoring Program.
