Vision 2020: planning for your year and leveling-up
By Sarah Macdonald, CAPIO’s Communications Chair

Post

Dear CAPIO members,

The rush of the holidays may be behind us but the excitement of what’s ahead is still very palpable. A new year traditionally marks the start of a new chapter and evokes feelings of new possibilities–CAPIO feels it too!

In this year to come, may you make mistakes. Because making mistakes, means you are making new things, trying new things, learning, pushing boundaries, challenging yourself and others, changing yourself, changing the communities that you serve. You’re doing things you’ve never done before, and more importantly, you’re doing something.

Thanks to your support and being a part of the CAPIO community, our association continues to thrive. While 2019 marked a year of tremendous growth, change and some impressive milestones, 2020 will be about sustaining this momentum and strategically leveling-up.

Using tools such as CAPIO’s five-year strategic plan, you will continue to be represented by a powerhouse Board that works towards supporting and growing communicators up and down this amazing state.

Here’s what you can expect in 2020:

  • An annual conference that just keeps getting better
  • Return of the cutting-edge, hands-on Emergency Communications Academy
  • Increased remote and digital learning opportunities
  • Increased local events through chapter groups
  • Website resources
  • Increased support for new members and younger PIOs
  • Continuation of CAPIO’s mentorship program
  • Enhanced J. Lindsey Wolfe Certificate in Communications program
  • And so much more!

As you gear up for 2020, we have packed this edition full to tips and tools for strategically planning your year ahead. Grab your check lists, put on your creative thinking cap, and enjoy this edition of CAPIO’s Communicator.

Sincerely,

Sarah  Macdonald
