Are you a new crisis communicator looking to build your skills? What about a seasoned professional in need of a refresher? Looking to build your network and learn from others?

CAPIO and the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (CalOES) have partnered to bring you the second annual Emergency Communications Academy being held February 4-5, 2020 in Sacramento.

Taking place in Sacramento from February 4 to 5, the unique two-day training will feature hands-on training for those wanting to learn effective, cutting-edge risk and crisis communication tactics and strategies using lessons learned from real-world events.

Whether you are a seasoned pro or rookie PIO, join communications professionals from across the state for robust training and presentations on day one and a field trip to California’s state emergency operations center for hands-on experiences on day two.

This academy is taught by public safety experts from federal, state and local government agencies such as FEMA, Cal OES, CAL FIRE and others. It’s designed for public information professionals who understand the basics of their job and want to expand their knowledge and skills to handle the unique complexities of crises such as natural and manmade disasters.
