“Plans are nothing; planning is everything.”
Dwight D. Eisenhower, former U.S. President

Since 2015, the CAPIO Board meets at an annual board planning session to focus on priority initiatives based on membership feedback. Many might recall that a key outcome in 2017’s retreat was the development of a five-year strategic plan to help strategically chart CAPIO’s course and guide future decisions.

This July, your CAPIO Board members were hard at work at the board planning session in Santa Barbara, which is the location of next year’s 2020 Annual Conference. The planning session was packed with topics including implementing the next set of strategic plan goals, expanding educational offerings, increasing website resources and templates, and re-launching the PIO Institute.

The Board also discussed and developed a strategy to bolster CAPIO’s long-term financial health, including growing our resources to continue to be the go-to association for advancing our public sector membership base as well as planning for economic uncertainty.

The board is delighted about the most recent membership survey—satisfaction levels are at an all-time high and our goal is to keep them there. The survey is a vital tool that informs our decisions and practices – but also to understand how we can continue to improve your experience and increase membership value.

Santa Barbara is a perfectly beautiful backdrop for continued learning and enrichment.  Be sure to mark your calendar for 2020 Annual Conference set for April 20-23. We hope to see you all there!
