Nearly everyone was thrust into emergency communications during the last two years.  Training in the trenches happened instantly.  However, now that you’ve had a chance to take a pause, have you considered if you are ready for the next crisis? Join us for the upcoming Emergency Communications Academy being held May 17-18, 2022 in Sacramento. CAPIO and the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (CalOES) have partnered to bring you this annual training.

This unique, hands-on training academy will help you learn effective, cutting-edge risk and crisis communication tactics and strategies using lessons learned from real-world events. Topics will include:

  • Cyber attacks

  • Multi-Agency response
  • Combating Mis, Dis-information

This is a two-day academy with robust training and presentations on day one and a field trip to California’s state emergency operations center for hands-on experiences on day two. This academy is taught by public safety experts from federal, state and local government agencies such as FEMA, Cal OES, CAL FIRE, and others. It’s designed for public information professionals who understand the basics of their job and want to expand their knowledge and skills to handle the unique complexities of crises such as natural and manmade disasters.
