  • Practical Application: Apply your new skills immediately with a hands-on development segment. You’re invited to bring a project from your agency that requires a strategic approach. During this session, participants will craft an outline of a communications plan tailored to a specific program, project, or crisis. Our workshop leaders will offer on-the-spot feedback, high-level guidance, and actionable suggestions.

Kristina Ray

Kristina Ray started her career working for two former White House press secretaries and brings over 20 years of experience in professional communication to the City of Carlsbad, including serving as a columnist for a local daily newspaper. In her current role she oversees all internal and external communication for this medium sized coastal city between San Diego and Orange counties.

Nikki Matosian

Nikki is a relationship builder who strategically and genuinely uses relationships to share messages and build community trust. With a background in public relations and public affairs, she dedicates her expertise to developing meaningful ways for the City of Carlsbad to communicate about city issues and services. 

Robin Rockey, APR
Robin Rockey, APR, is CAPIO’s Education and Development Chair and the CEO of  RockSpark Communications + Marketing, an award-winning government communications agency that helps cities, special districts and public agencies achieve their goals.
