Winner of CAPIO’s 2025 Young Communicator Scholarship Announced
Princess Kate Cunanan

News

CAPIO is proud to congratulate Princess Kate Cunanan as our 2025 Young Communicator Scholarship winner.

She has experience working as a communications intern for the City of Beaumont and is a current fellow for the Western Riverside Council of Governments.  She is currently pursuing a Masters in Public Administration.   Her essay emphasizes the importance of communications for strong communities, “It is through our communication efforts that we can inform residents of relevant discussions and seek their feedback. The provision of equitable access to knowledge will be key in lowering barriers to citizen participation; this can be done by limiting government jargon, ensuring accuracy across all content, accommodating through different preferences of communication channels, and expanding content in its available languages (as needed by demographic).”

A recommendation letter by CAPIO member Julie Van Hook states ”Princess has consistently demonstrated the ability to foster transparent and effective communication through engaging diverse audiences, distilling complex information, and initiation to take on new tasks and dive into more complex assignments.”

Congratulations Princess.  We wish you success in your future career!
