Join CAPIO as we continue the education around racism and what it means to be equitable.  During this webinar, Aimée Zenzele Barnes, Diversity & Equity Manager for the City of Sacramento, will discuss choice points and how to create change within, effecting change externally.

This webinar will provide you:

  • A deeper understanding of what it means to be equitable
  • Tools that you can deploy in your professional and personal lives to effect change
  • Reflective space to consider individual roles we play in our personal and professional endeavors and hence, the opportunity to create change within effecting change externally.

This will be a workshop style training where we will breakout into small groups to share and reflect.  Video ‘on’ is encouraged.

Bio

Aimée Zenzele Barnes, serves as Diversity and Equity Manager for the City of Sacramento. In her role she is responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating Citywide diversity, equity, and inclusion programs. Aimée works closely with all City departments and offices to ensure support for diversity, equity, and inclusion is ultimately integrated into decision making, planning and implementation, throughout all structures, services, policies, practices, and procedures. Learn more about the framework that will guide this work and the three top priorities for 2018-2020.

Aimée joined the City of Sacramento with over 18 years of higher education administration experience at San Francisco State University where she served as the Interim Director of Diversity and Student Equity. In that role, she developed, coordinated and implemented diversity and equity programs, policies, procedures and practices to continually improve organization culture and services to engage all in critical reflection, innovation, curiosity and courageous conversations.

While at San Francisco State University, Aimée has held several leadership positions. Her accomplishments are many and includes: developed and handled the change management process in successfully merging two non-profit organizations, developed policy and implementation of 4 Community Cultural Mural Initiatives, developed and presented 12 week professional development training program based on decolonization and social justice pedagogy, inclusive excellence models, and multi-cultural development theory, and served as founding Director of the Richard Oakes Multicultural Center.  In addition, she has served on a variety of community-based boards of directors, including the SF Black Coalition on AIDS (Rafiki Wellness Center) and the SF CARE Council.  Her various roles in working in higher education has fostered a deep understanding of the vital role of dialogue, life-long learning, and change management, plays in promoting inclusivity in public service.

Aimée holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and Black Studies, and a Master’s Degree in Education Administration from San Francisco State University.
