Tips for narratives

  • Keep narratives to two, typed pages or fewer, single-spaced, minimum of 11 point font
  • When writing your award narrative, think about addressing the following:
    • Planning
      • If a new program/project, why was it initiated?
      • What were the goals/objectives of the project?
      • What were the reasons for each medium selected?
      • What was the project budget, including estimate of staff hours, costs for outside consultant and in-kind contributions, frequency of distribution, and per piece cost, if applicable?
      • Who is the target audience and what was the total audience served?
  • Implementation
    • How was the project developed?
    • Did CAPIO members play a role in this project, if applicable?
    • Were there any outside consultants?
  • Results and evaluation
    • How was the project evaluated and who was involved in the process?
    • What were the evaluation results?
    • How was the piece effective in targeting its audience?
    • How were the goals and objectives met?
