Cancellation Policy:
Cancellations that occur by April 4 will be charged a $75 administrative fee and the refund check will be sent after the conference concludes. Cancellations after April 4 will not be entitled to a refund but may transfer their registration to another attendee. There are no refunds for awards dinner only registrations.

KEYNOTE SPEAKERS:

Brian Wright is Senior Director of Communications for Visit California, an industry-led nonprofit organization with a mission to develop and maintain marketing programs that keep California top-of-mind as a premier travel destination. Brian oversees all of Visit California’s communications and public relations efforts, including public affairs, media relations, industry communications and speaking engagements.
Brian has more than a decade of executive-level experience in the travel industry from his role as Director of Marketing for Delaware North Companies (DNC) Parks and Resorts at Yosemite National Park. Prior to his role at Yosemite, he oversaw DNC sales, marketing and e-business efforts at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. He also served as Chair of Visit California’s Communications Committee, where he was extensively involved in a myriad of the organization’s marketing and communications initiatives.
Travel and tourism generated $102.3 billion in revenue for California businesses in 2011, directly supported jobs for 893,000 Californians and generated $6.3 billion in state and local tax revenues. Tourism is California’s fourth-largest employer and fifth-largest contributor to the gross state product.
Brian is currently a resident of Sacramento, where he lives with his wife and two children.
John Shirey, City Manager for the City of Sacramento, is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the City including a total annual budget of $1.06 billion and a workforce of approximately 4,000 employees. In addition to providing leadership and direction to all City departments, Mr. Shirey makes recommendations to the Mayor and City Council as appropriate concerning the operation, annual budget, and future needs of the City.
Prior to his appointment as City Manager, Mr. Shirey was the Executive Director of the California Redevelopment Association for nine years. He has also served in senior executive positions as City Manager of Cincinnati, Assistant City Manager of Long Beach and Assistant Chief Administrative Officer of Los Angeles County. Mr. Shirey is a “Credentialed Manager” through the International City/County Management Association and is active in a number of professional organizations including American Society for Public Administration, International Economic Development Council, Government Finance Officers Association, and Urban Land Institute. He is a Fellow in the National Academy of Public Administration. Mr. Shirey is also a USA Track & Field Association Certified Master Official.
