Jenny Peterson

Jenny Peterson has more than a decade of experience in public relations and local government.  She is the communications officer for the city of San Marcos where she oversees media relations and community outreach efforts, directs the production of the city newsletter and is leading the city's brand management campaign. She is also responsible for cable television programming, Web site development and other promotional strategies for the advancement of the city.

Prior to joining San Marcos, Peterson was the communications manager for the city of Palmdale. Under her leadership, Palmdale's communications office grew to become nationally recognized for its innovative and effective public information and marketing efforts. Peterson won acclaim for the Palmdale’s Web site, cable television programming and publications. In addition, she has served as the communications officer for the city of Vista, marketing manager for the Palmdale Playhouse and marketing communications manager for C-Tech Industries.

Peterson previously served as First Vice President and President of CAPIO. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication from Western Washington University and a Master of Public Administration degree from California State University, Northridge. She also has advanced training in crisis communications from the California Specialized Training Institute. Peterson is a native of Vancouver, Washington and now resides in Carlsbad, California.
