Christine Brainerd

Christine Brainerd joined the City of Elk Grove with nearly a decade of experience in the fields of communications and journalism.   As Public Information Officer, she is responsible for managing the city’s communications, marketing and advertising programs. Christine’s career began in journalism. She has written for the Sacramento News & Review and worked on the assignment desk at KTXL FOX 40. She has worked for two Sacramento area public relations agencies, and was responsible for managing local and statewide social marketing programs.  Christine has served as public relations chair for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and as co-president of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC). Christine has been the recipient of multiple awards for her work through the Sacramento Public Relations Association (SPRA), California Association of Public Information Officials (CAPIO), Sacramento Ad Club and International Association of Business Communicators (IABC). She is a graduate of California State University, Sacramento with a bachelor’s degree in communications studies (public relations emphasis) and journalism minor.

Keri Dent

With more than nine years of experience as a communications practitioner, Keri develops and manages public relations programs that support the communication objectives of government clients as an account supervisor with Katz & Associates, Inc.  Keri’s vast knowledge and experience of public awareness campaigns, advertising, event management and marketing experience is well suited to serve as Second Vice President for the CAPIO board. She currently is the project manager for the Sacramento Metropolitan Air Quality Management District’s Spare the Air and Check Before You Burn public awareness campaigns. Event coordination, paid advertising, social media and partnership development are just a few of the components Keri handles for this multi-faceted campaign. Her experience also includes work for the City of Sacramento Department of Utilities, CalRecycle, Western Placer County Waste Management Authority, and the City of Roseville. Keri is a graduate from California State University, Sacramento with a B.A. in communication studies.

Anne McGrath

 

Anne McGrath has served as Communications & Outreach Manager for the City of Monterey, CA since 2006. She has government, corporate, and PR agency experience as well as a background in television and radio. McGrath has worked for Hewlett-Packard Company, Hearst-Argyle television and Westinghouse radio. She also has taught broadcast journalism at Boston University. At the City of Monterey, McGrath develops citywide and departmental marketing and media relations plans; supervises the design and technology for the city’s external and internal websites;  manages production of 24/7 programming for the city’s government access cable TV station; and supervises the City’s social media presence. Anne is a member of CAPIO, 3CMA, AFTRA and SAG. She lives in Pacific Grove, CA.

Scot Crocker

Scot Crocker is managing partner of Crocker & Crocker, a public outreach and marketing agency. He was formerly the president and CEO of Crocker/Flanagan, a leading advertising and PR firm in Sacramento which he founded in 1989. He specializes in strategic branding and communications public and private sector clients including state agencies and municipalities, statewide associations and leading corporations. He has led his company in capturing more than 250 awards for creative and effective communications programs. Scot has twice won the Marketer of the Year award from the American Marketing Association and Public Relations Professional of the Year from the Sacramento Public Relations Association. A graduate of California State University, Chico, Scot majored in journalism and public relations with additional studies in business and marketing. At Chico, he was managing editor for the award-winning CSU-Chico school newspaper The Orion. He has served on numerous nonprofit boards and is a senior fellow with American Leadership Forum.

Jayne Bauer

 

Jayne Bauer has served as the Marketing and Legislative Program Manager for the Solano Transportation Authority (STA) since April of 2005.  She develops the STA Legislative Platform, coordinates legislative monitoring, reporting and annual lobbying trips.  Jayne is responsible for the marketing/public outreach program, including media relations, website, social media, events, publications and the Annual STA Awards program.  The STA is one of nine Congestion Management Agencies in the Bay Area and provides transportation planning for arterials, highways, freeways, ferry service, transit, rail, bicycle and pedestrians for Solano County. Jayne previously served as Executive Assistant to the City Manager at the City of Brentwood.  She spent over 6 years developing the City’s marketing program, increasing visibility of the City and improving public relations by coordinating community outreach, publications and events, and working with the local media. Jayne has been a member of CAPIO since 2003, and received her PIO Institute Certification in 2006.  She holds a B.S. in Management and Ethics from William Jessup University.  Jayne lives with her family in Sacramento, and does her part to reduce highway congestion by commuting daily on the Capitol Corridor train to Suisun City.  She is particularly interested in promoting membership in CAPIO as a fantastic networking opportunity.  Jayne has gained valuable assistance from her CAPIO peers over the years and hopes to expand membership to increase the organization’s knowledge base.
